Rockstar Games has released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, a 90-second cut that opens with Jason Duval talking about his time in the Army and then moves to cinematics of Jason and Lucia Caminos across Leonida. It went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel on October 15, 2026, five weeks before the game's November 19 release.

It shows no gameplay systems. Rockstar's description says the trailer "was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5" and is built around new music from Justice, the electronic duo who composed the game's original score.

What the launch trailer says about Jason's past

The trailer opens over a "Welcome to The Keys" sign and an aerial view of Brian's Marina, with Jason in voice-over: "I got in some trouble in the Army. Didn't leave on the best of terms." He adds, "They don't give loans or, anything, to people like me."

That fills a gap in Rockstar's official bio for Jason, which says he did "a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens" before ending up in the Keys working for local drug runners. The bio did not say how his service ended. In the trailer, Jason says it ended badly and that it still counts against him.

Jason, bearded and in a backwards cap and tank top, takes a phone call in a boatyard with boats stacked on racks behind him.

The marina scenes show Jason with a full beard, longer hair and a backwards cap, a different look from earlier trailers. He buffs a boat hull and works on a speedboat in the shed beside Cal Hampton. Then he answers his phone to an automated message: "This is a free call from Lucia Caminos." The first trailer opened with Lucia in a Leonida prison, which places this scene before her release, with the two already in contact.

A later shot shows Jason, long-haired and wearing a "U.S. Army Marauder Combat Training School" T-shirt, leaning on a red sports car beside Lucia, who wears a denim jacket and sunglasses pushed up on her head.

The rest of the trailer

After the title card, the trailer cuts between Jason and Lucia's private moments and the crimes around them. Shots include:

  • Jason and Lucia in a red convertible in Vice City
  • Jason wading through swamp water at sunset with a group of armed men
  • Two women stepping through an open vault door into a room full of loose cash
  • Real Dimez dancing under purple club lights
  • A biplane trailing pink smoke over a crowded beach, with a person standing on the wing
  • Raul Bautista standing over a man pinned on a rooftop at night, with Jason and Lucia beside him
  • Lucia firing a rifle on a road with a fire behind her
Raul Bautista stands over a man pinned on a rooftop at night, with Jason on the left and Lucia on the right.

Near the end, Lucia asks, "Are we gonna be okay?" Jason answers: "We've stuck together through everything. Just gotta get through it." That matches the premise in the trailer's description, which has the pair caught in "a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida" after "an easy score goes wrong".

New Justice single

The music is a new standalone Justice single, "Flower in a Hurricane", featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar says it is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, which is open for pre-save on streaming services and pre-order on vinyl and CD.

The trailer ends on a "Pre-Order Now" card with the November 19, 2026 date. Rockstar has not said whether another trailer will follow before launch.
