GTA 6 Release Time and Pre-Load: Midnight Local on November 19, Pre-Load From November 12
Rockstar has not given an unlock hour, but PlayStation Store listings point to midnight local time on November 19. Digital and boxed copies can pre-load from November 12.
GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, and pre-loading opens a week earlier, on November 12, for anyone with a digital pre-order, Rockstar Games said in its pre-order announcement. Rockstar has not announced the exact hour the game unlocks.
What is known about the time comes from store listings, not from Rockstar. Those listings point to a midnight release in each region rather than one global unlock.
What time does GTA 6 release?
Regional PlayStation Store pages show a rolling release, GTABase found: it starts in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on November 18, which is midnight there on November 19, and finishes about 19 hours later in Mexico and Central America. That points to an unlock at midnight local time, which GTABase notes is how Rockstar released GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Claims of a single worldwide unlock at 5:00 UTC have spread on other sites. GTABase found no official source for that figure.
When can you pre-load GTA 6?
From November 12, 2026. Rockstar's support site says pre-loading begins at local midnight that day, GTABase reports, and the PlayStation Store listing includes a "7-Day Pre-load" with both editions.
Pre-loading downloads the game but does not let you play it before release day. Physical copies work the same way: the box holds a download code, not a disc, and Rockstar says boxed copies go on sale on November 12 so that buyers can pre-load too.
How big is the GTA 6 download?
Rockstar has not announced a file size. Figures from 200GB to over 600GB have circulated, and none comes from Rockstar or a platform holder. For comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 asked for about 105GB on PS4 in 2018.
Which platforms is it on at launch?
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation listing says the game is "not playable on PlayStation 4", and Rockstar has not announced a PC version; a GamesBeat report puts it in early 2027.
Pre-orders made before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders add one month of GTA+.
