GTA 6 Reviews Reportedly Land November 18, and Review Copies Are Watermarked With Reviewers' Names
Reviews are reportedly due a day before launch. The watermarks on review copies, which show each reviewer's name, are standard practice for big releases.

This story is not confirmed by Rockstar Games. Treat the details as provisional.
GTA 6 reviews are reportedly due on November 18, 2026, the day before launch, and the review copies are said to carry a watermark with each reviewer's name. Neither detail has been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two.
The watermark claim comes from journalist Jeremy Conrad, who posts as ManaByte, in a post on X. He says the reviewer's name flashes on screen so that leaked footage can be traced to the copy it came from.
When GTA 6 reviews come out
Insider Gaming reported on October 14 that reviews will go live before the November 19 release. It said it had learned the preliminary embargo date but would not share it because it is "subject to change".
Beebom and VGTimes report the date as November 18, citing insider claims. Beebom also reports that review codes were to go out at the end of October, which it describes as unconfirmed. Rockstar has not announced an embargo date or said when copies were sent.
Why review copies are watermarked
Marking each review copy is common for big releases, and it is not a sign of anything unusual about GTA 6. Beebom reports that Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming called the practice "fairly standard stuff", and VGTimes reports that he said publishers do it especially when copies are played remotely rather than at an event.
According to VGTimes, the marks in GTA 6 show the reviewer's name and outlet in several places on screen and move, which would make them hard to crop out. Conrad also claims that a reviewer or outlet tied to a leak would lose access to future Rockstar games. That part is his claim alone; Rockstar has not described any penalty.
The game itself unlocks on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Release times and pre-load details are in our earlier report.
