Sensor Tower estimates GTA 6 had about 6.45 million digital pre-orders worth roughly $630 million worldwide as of October 18, GTA Intel reported on October 20. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has published a pre-order number.

The figure is a third-party model built from Sensor Tower's own data, and it counts digital copies only.

The numbers by platform

PlayStation accounts for about 4.8 million copies and $468 million, around 74 percent. Xbox accounts for about 1.66 million copies and $162 million, around 26 percent. Insider Gaming and TweakTown report the same split.

Five days earlier, as of October 13, Sensor Tower's estimate was about 6.08 million copies and $594 million, net of returns, with 4.51 million on PlayStation and 1.57 million on Xbox.

What the estimate does not include

Physical copies are not counted, so the true pre-order total is higher. The $630 million is what buyers paid, before platform fees, so it is not Take-Two's revenue. Sensor Tower does not receive sales data from Rockstar or Sony, and its numbers can be revised.

The average works out to about $98 per copy, which suggests most buyers are choosing the top-priced edition. Our price and editions guide lists what each edition costs.

What is still unknown

Sensor Tower publishes a public sales tracker that it updates weekly, so a newer figure than October 18 may already exist. Take-Two reports its second-quarter results on November 9, ten days before the November 19 launch.
