Daft Punk GTA 6 Rumor: X Account Claims Rockstar Offered a "Final Comeback" Soundtrack Deal

An X account that covers Daft Punk news claims Rockstar offered the duo a "final comeback" on the GTA 6 soundtrack with an "essentially unlimited budget", Dexerto reported on October 20. Rockstar, Daft Punk and Justice have not commented, and nothing in the claim is verified.

The post, from the account hasitleaked on October 19, says Rockstar approached Daft Punk's management and that Justice was its second choice. Dexerto's lead says Daft Punk turned the offer down, but the post it quotes does not say that.

What Rockstar has confirmed

Rockstar confirmed with the launch trailer on October 15 that Justice composed the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI. The trailer's song, "Flower in a Hurricane", is a Justice single featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Our soundtrack article covers the score and the 34-track album.

Rockstar has said nothing about Daft Punk.

How much weight the claim carries

Dexerto does not verify the claim. It presents the poster's record of Daft Punk reporting as the reason to take it seriously, and uses "reportedly" throughout. A single account with no named source is not enough to treat the offer as fact.

The album is due on November 19, the same day as the game. Rockstar has not published its full tracklist.
