Spectrum Lifts Eligible Customers to Gig Speeds From November 9 for the GTA 6 Download
Charter's free Gig Speed Lift runs November 9 to 30 and is opt-in through the My Spectrum App. Spectrum says a gig line pulls GTA 6's 212GB pre-load in under 30 minutes.

Spectrum will raise eligible internet customers to gig speeds from November 9 to 30 at no charge, and it is selling the offer on GTA 6's download. Charter Communications announced the Gig Speed Lift in a press release on November 4. The faster speeds begin a day before pre-loading opens on November 10.
The offer is Spectrum's alone. Rockstar Games is not part of it, and nothing about the game changes for anyone who takes it.
What Spectrum is offering
Qualifying residential customers move up to Spectrum Internet Gig, which is 1Gbps, and customers already on that tier in select markets move to 2 Gig. The lift starts on November 9 and ends on November 30, when speeds return to the plan the customer pays for, with no action needed and no change to the bill.
Activation is a single tap in the My Spectrum App, which has to be done by November 30. Spectrum lists the conditions as a qualifying internet plan, compatible equipment and no outstanding obligations to the company.

Can you download GTA 6 in under 30 minutes?
Spectrum says an eligible gig connection downloads GTA 6 "in less than 30 minutes". The arithmetic supports it at the top end: the pre-load needs up to 212GB, which takes about 28 minutes at a sustained 1Gbps.
A console rarely sustains that. PlayStation Network and Xbox servers set their own pace on launch week, Wi-Fi gives up speed that a wired connection keeps, and a 212GB file lands on a drive that has to write it. The figure is a ceiling, not a promise.
Why an internet provider is advertising on a game
At up to 212GB the pre-load is about double GTA V's install size, and it opens on November 10 at midnight local time on PS5, with the game itself unlocking on November 19. Spectrum's window covers the pre-load, the launch, Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
It is not the first provider to attach itself to the launch. Virgin Media Ireland is paying one person 800 euro to play the game for eight hours, with applications open until November 15.
Spectrum has not said how many customers qualify, and the lift is United States only.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Spectrum speed boost free?
Yes. Charter says the Gig Speed Lift carries no cost and no conditions, and speeds return to the customer's normal plan on December 1 with no action needed.
Who qualifies for Spectrum's Gig Speed Lift?
Residential Spectrum customers on a qualifying internet plan, with compatible equipment and no outstanding obligations to the company. Eligibility shows in the My Spectrum App, where the lift is activated.
How big is the GTA 6 download?
Up to 212GB, depending on the device, which is the figure Rockstar gave in its pre-load FAQ. That is roughly double GTA V's install size.
When does GTA 6 pre-loading start?
November 10, at midnight local time on PlayStation 5 and at 12am GMT on Xbox Series X|S. The game unlocks at midnight local time on November 19.
Do I need gig internet to play GTA 6 at launch?
No. A slower connection only means a longer download, and pre-loading from November 10 leaves nine days before the game unlocks.
