GTA 6 Side Activities and Things to Do

GTA 6 has plenty to do outside the story. Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, named several activities in interviews with Famitsu and IGN, and Game Informer's September cover story added more.

• Fishing, which Nelson called his favourite.
• Gyms, with a workout minigame that builds health and strength.
• Pool, mini golf and kayaking, which also build Jason and Lucia's relationship when done together.
• Studying animals, a collection system carried over from Red Dead Redemption 2.
• Robberies of stores, jewelry stores, small banks and gang hideouts.
• Stealing and selling cars.

Reported from the Game Informer cover story

The YouTube channel gameranx reports that Game Informer's cover story lists base jumping, billiards, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, street and off-road racing, zoos, airboats and jet skis among the side activities. We have not been able to read the subscriber-only article, so treat the items not listed above as reported rather than confirmed.

Wildlife

Leonida has more than 170 animal species on land, in the air and at sea, Game Informer reports. They range from native flamingos, manatees, pelicans and alligators to invasive green iguanas, cane toads, feral cats and rhesus macaques. Some animals are tracked as Rare, Discoverable or Legendary, and Rockstar is keeping those a secret.

The Italian YouTuber Mike ShowSha, who played a preview build in July, says you can carry dog treats and feed dogs you meet, and studying a dog shows its breed.

Random events

Interactive random events happen all over the map, Nelson told Famitsu. Nelson showed Famitsu one, a strange man living in a trash can, and if someone you meet is livestreaming, the game shows it. Mike ShowSha came across two women trapped in a jewelry store they were robbing, an event Rockstar's team said they had not seen in months of testing.

Smaller things to do

Mike ShowSha says newspapers and magazines in stores can be picked up and read. Clothing stores and hair salons are spread across the map, with thousands of outfits, Nelson said, and some salons have their own signature styles.

What is still unknown

Rockstar has not published a full activity list or said which activities unlock through the story. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
