Leonida's weather is modelled on Florida's, storms included. Rockstar detailed the system for Game Informer's September cover story, confirming tropical storms and hurricanes.

Clouds and local storms

Dynamic cloudscapes roll across the state, from clear skies to overcast days. Storms are localized, so you can stand somewhere dry and sunny and watch rain pouring down in the distance.

Rain leaves a trace. Drive to where a storm has passed and puddles and wet surfaces are still there, and in the right light a rainbow can follow a shower.

Tropical storms and hurricanes

Like Florida, Leonida gets tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes. Game Informer notes that it is not yet known how often they happen or how they affect gameplay and the story.

What is still unknown

Rockstar has not said whether hurricanes can strike at any time in free roam or only in set story moments, or whether weather changes driving and police chases. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
