GTA 6 Weapons: Carrying, Storage and Customization

The biggest weapon change in GTA 6 is that you can no longer carry everything at once. "For the first time in this game, you can no longer conceal weapons," Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, told Famitsu.
No more hidden arsenal
Long guns are no longer "invisible", Nelson said. Rockstar worried that losing the shotgun or rocket launcher pulled from nowhere would take away some of the fun, but decided that walking through the city holding a carbine while nobody reacts no longer fit the world. "You were the only one with an invisible arsenal hidden away," he told IGN.
Rockstar has not published an exact carry limit. The YouTube channel gameranx reported a limit of two concealed pistols and two long guns, but the Famitsu interview it cited does not say that.
Where your guns are kept
Long guns are managed at the locker in every Ammu-Nation, or in your personal vehicle, where you take out what you need. You can also put a gun in the trunk of a stolen car for as long as you keep it. Guns you own always end up in your personal vehicle or the Ammu-Nation armory, so you cannot lose them for good.
Buying and customizing
Ammu-Nation sells a wide range, including guns exclusive to particular stores, and there are more customization options than ever before, Nelson said. The Italian YouTuber Mike ShowSha, who played a preview build in July, says individual parts can be changed in detail and a customized gun becomes your persistent weapon.
How people react to guns
Carrying one long gun on your back draws little attention. Holding a gun is different: Nelson said people "may dislike it and leave, or react aggressively toward you," and the police will stop you. Other people may be armed and fight back, and a driver you try to carjack may shoot at you. Mike ShowSha says some NPCs will try to take the weapon out of your hands.
Combat tools
Suppressive fire lets you shoot near people to pin them down instead of killing them, which Nelson said is there to let you escape without killing police or civilians. Focus, which he compared to Red Dead Redemption 2's Eagle Eye, highlights nearby police. According to Mike ShowSha, it also slows time, marks lethal and non-lethal weak points, and highlights things you can interact with, such as explosives and doors.
What is still unknown
Rockstar has not published a weapon list, prices or the full set of attachments. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
